Tonight was the gallery opening for Dalton Gallery’s Clitical Thinking: The Art of Sophia Wallace. I was greatly surprised by the number of people who attended the opening; the gallery was packed!
I really enjoyed watching how people interacted with the art. I noticed that people tended to spend a lot of time in front of 100 Natural Laws in the back room of the gallery, yet no one got very close. This suggests that text is very powerful in a work of art; it can demand attention as well as silence from the viewer. The neon displays were also very popular due to their use of text as well as the allure of bright lights.
This exhibition will be on view until March 11th. For more information about this and other art events at Agnes check out this website: https://www.agnesscott.edu/the-arts/
